SOLUTIONS

Over the years ATC has developed a number of custom systems for specific applications. Our experienced engineering team is capable of customizing any of our units to a specific application. The following are some examples of systems or improvements which have been developed. Please contact us if you have a special application which is not met by one of our standard units.

Refrigerated Trailers

There has been an increase in demand for refrigerated trailers instead of truck mounted refrigerated truck bodies to allow for improved fleet flexibility. These trailers require independent electrically driven refrigeration systems which are either powered by a tongue mounted electric generator or shore power. ATC has developed specialized systems which are completely contained on the trailer and does not require any power from the tow vehicle

Restricted Head Room

In many urban areas, refrigerated vehicles may have to enter a parking garage or corridor with severe height restrictions. In these cases operators do not want anything protruding above the exterior roof line of the vehicle.

ATC has designed “Skirt-Mounted” Condensers for these applications to ensure that we can offer a refrigerated unit that meets the height restrictions identified by the end-user.

Floral Industry

ATC is located adjacent to the Niagara Peninsula, which is the home of some of Canada’s largest fresh flower distributors. To arrive fresh and vibrant, flowers and/or plants need precise and constant temperature to survive during the transportation to their final destination.  In Canada the temperatures can range from well below freezing to close to 100F or 40C on hot summer days.

The solution was to develop units that can not only cool to the precise temperature, but automatically switch to a hot water heating mode if required.  Flower distributors can now transport their products knowing that the pre-set temperature that is ideal for their product will be maintained regardless of outside ambient temperatures.

Compact Refrigerated Boxes

Many businesses are looking to add some smaller, fuel efficient vehicles to their delivery fleet, but find it difficult to locate mounts and compressors that can be easily installed on the engine to power the refrigeration unit.

ATC has developed a DC All-Electric Unit, to overcome this problem. For small box applications, a new innovative method of using the vehicles alternator to source power for the DC unit solves the problem.

Overnight Temperature Control

Vehicles returning to home base after a full day of delivery may have excess product still on board, which requires continued temperature control, either cooling or heating depending on the season.

To avoid the cost of unloading and then reloading, ATC provides options for maintaining temperature while stationary.  The unit can be equipped with an electric standby (ESB) feature to maintain temperature set-point, whether it is a cooling or heating requirement.

Fluctuating Voltages

In some areas, usually rural, voltages can be below published norms, and when this occurs, most transport refrigeration units will not function as expected.

ATC has eliminated this problem by incorporating a special Power Purifier into each unit with an Electric Stand-by option, to will overcome this problem.
